About
Tee Hoida is a trans nonbinary writer based in Brooklyn, NY. Their work explores humanity, with an emphasis on trans rights and bodily autonomy across all genders. Their work as a playwright, screenwriter, and theatrical artist delves into the worlds of fantastical realism and science fiction, aiming to understand and depict the intricacies of what it means to be human, while looking ahead at how we may evolve in the future.
In 2021, Tee had the honor of completing their Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to this achievement, they obtained a Bachelor of the Arts in Theatre Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 2011.Tee has been fortunate to receive recognition for their work. Their play "BE NOT FORGETFUL" was honored with the National Partners of the American Theatre (NAPAT) Playwriting Award in 2021. Their screenplay "THE SPACE ABOVE US" was supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in 2020, and their pilot script "THE BUG WITCH" also received a similar grant from the foundation in 2021. Tee was invited to participate in the National Playwriting Program at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in both 2020 and 2021.. In 2017, their fringe festival production of "LARRY 13:2" was recognized, being named one of the Most Memorable Moments On Stage by the Cincinnati Enquirer. Tee is also the co-creator and lead writer of Auricle, a science fiction audio drama anthology podcast that completed their second season in 2023 and is part of the Fable and Folly Network.
